  • The world’s fastest swimmer is the sail fish, this speedy fish can achieve speeds of 75mph!
  • For every human in the world, there are one million ants!
  • Did you know a flamingo can only eat when it’s head is upside down!
  • Here’s an eye fact for you – Goat’s eyes have rectangular pupils allowing them to watch out for predators over flat grazing ground, clever evolution huh.
  • I don’t know about you but this petfact gives us the shivers for some reason – Honeybees have hairs on their eyes to help them collect pollen *shudder*
  • The giraffe has no vocal cords and communicates by vibrating the air around it’s neck would you believe.
  • Now this we did not know – a blue whales tongue weighs more than most elephants!

Pet Facts – Week 22

  • A good fish fact for you, well mammal really but anyway…dolphins sleep with one half of the brain at a time, and with one eye open…
  • Before you drift off tonight, ponder this – a snail can sleep for 3 years at a stretch!
  • A little known fact about rats, rats can last longer without water than a camel
  • Did you know that bats always turn left when exiting a cave! Fancy that

  • Here’s a spider fact I bet you didn’t know – tarantulas can live for over 2 years without eating a single thing!
  • Cows from different regions have different “moo” accents. No joke!
  • Strange but true: a giraffe has the same amount of bones in its neck as a man.
  • Here’s one for the fish fans: Goldfish lose their color if kept in dim light. Just like humans, they need sunlight to keep their pigment.
  • This could come in handy before you pack for summer hols: Mosquitos are attracted to the color blue twice as much as to any other color..
